Arcade addicts will be thrilled with the latest from LittleWing (creators of Loony Labyrinth). Angel Egg and Golden Logres put a humorous spin on an old-fashioned concept by transforming the slightly cheesy into the ultra-kitschy. Both games feature bright, crisp, 3-D illustrations and include a machine-shaking command for a realistic touch.
Angel Egg is a standard pinball game with a heavenly flair. The layout of the table is a colorful and twisted heaven in which clouds, harps, and the angels Gabriel and Michael are all fair targets. Sound effects range from childlike giggles to the enthusiastic rallying cry of “Energize your wings!” Infectious dance music pumps in the background during intensive, high-scoring multi-ball sessions. The ultimate goal of the game is to reach the final level: Genesis, naturally.
Golden Logres is a medieval adventure theme in which you, Sir Bedivere, are given the challenge of reviving the 11 Knights of the Round Table. In order to do so, you must complete ten “missions” by scoring points on three different pinball tables. Weapons are awarded along the way, although it’s unclear if they are necessary for later use. However, half the charm of Golden Logres lies in knowing that the premise, the weapons, and the dramatic musical score are all extraneous to the pinball action.
While the games aren’t sold through retail stores in the U.S., they can be downloaded or, for an additional charge, ordered on CD. Original prices are in Japanese yen, but U.S. dollar translations are provided. Payment can be made by credit card, by fax, or by sending a check via airmail.
