Our Verdict
Casady & Greene’s popular grammar checker, Grammarian 2.1.1, sits unobtrusively in your menu bar until you tell it to proofread your document for miscues in grammar and punctuation. When the utility finds a problem, you can accept one of its suggested corrections, retype the errant phrase, or continue scanning. According to Casady & Greene, Grammarian is now compatible with most Mac applications.
In our documents, Grammarian occasionally flagged words that were correct. We also found that the program’s interactive mode, which checks syntax on-the-fly, missed some mistakes that batch checking detected.
