Our Verdict
If you’re looking for a Linux to install on your Mac, SuSE is the first big name in the Linux world to release a distribution for PowerPC-based machines. SuSE Linux 6.4 provides all the features of a seasoned Linux distribution, such as a solid, well-regarded installer. Those who have used SuSE Linux for other processors will feel right at home with the Mac version. The downsides are that the manual is riddled with typos and suffers from translation problems, and that SuSE’s kernel updates for PowerPC lag behind updates for 80×86.
That said, SuSE Linux for PowerPC–with its library of soft- ware and printed manual–offers by far the best Linux distribution for its price.
