This software alarm clock gives you so many features, you might even forget it is a clock.
Chronomenon 3.1 can not only crow like a rooster, flash, or speak a text message but also launch other applications. So you can set it to perform just about any command, such as waking you up to your favorite MP3s, CD, or DVD movie. Other features include a stopwatch and a countdown timer that can set off an alarm or a command of your choice.
Chronomenon is also highly customizable. You can change the font of the display with whichever fonts you have installed, and you can also change the clock’s color patterns. The program also includes extra patterns, and you can create your own. All of your preference settings, including alarms, will remain unchanged even after relaunches.
Chronomenon’s documentation, however, says you need to have a Netscape Browser, and it can be a little difficult to follow as the instructions are short and punchy and don’t go into too much detail about the interface of the command settings. Also, how to set up the commands for the alarm application is not as obvious as how to set the time — the controls are hidden in the menu for volume and color. After a while, you might feel that you get caught in a web of online documents just to customize your clock.
