MovingPicture is a tool for documentary and industrial filmmakers to pan and zoom on high-resolution images. Rather than using expensive and bulky motion-control rigs to create pans and zooms on stills, MovingPicture uses digital images on a desktop computer. Version 4.4 supports images of up to 8,000 by 8,000 pixels, a 100 percent increase in rendering speed, support for multiple processors, support for Pinnacle Edition and Liquid Series editors, and more, according to StageTools founder Bill Ferster.
MovingPicture is available for the following editors: After Effects, Avid, dpsVelocity, edit, Final Cut Pro, Media 100, Pinnacle, Premiere, RexEdit and SpeedRazor. A freestanding Mac or Windows version is also available. MovingPicture supports Mac OS X, Mac OS 9.x, and Windows.
A fully functional evaluation copy can be downloaded from the StageTools Web site. The MovingPicture plug-in costs US$199. Registered users can upgrade to version 4.4 for free.
