MAPublisher Lt is a subset of Avenza’s own MAPublisher software. Avenza Systems president Ted Florence called the release “a good introduction” to MAPublisher and advised that users who buy MAPublisher Lt can upgrade to the full version without any penalty.
MAPublisher Lt works by importing vector-based data from GIS-capable software like MapInfo, ArcINFO, ArcView, AutoCAD, Microstation and others. This allows the existing map data to be imported into and enhanced with Illustrator or FreeHand.
MAPublisher Lt works with Mac OS 8 or higher, including X. The software is available for US$249 and can be ordered directly through Avenza or through resellers.
