Shadowbane has been in development for more than four years. The game promises to combine elements of real time strategy and role playing together and players band together to gain power and prestige. You can form parties, explore dungeons and defeat monsters, according to Wolfpack vice president Robert Marsa, but there’s also a feudal warfare system in which players create cities, form armies and attack other cities.
Shadowbane is set in a world called Aerynth, populated by 10 different races of beings that players choose from to make their own characters. The game features countless monsters, deities and other non-player characters (NPCs), some of whom are actually controlled by actors hired by Ubi Soft.
“The idea was to create a world that would embrace a dark fantasy feel and have a rich enough background to provide a foundation for players to create their own epic stories,” Marsa told Apple.
Apple’s coverage includes screenshots and a primer that introduces you to some important basics about Shadowbane.
