Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne is the forthcoming expansion pack to Blizzard’s hit game, Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. A 3D strategy game with role-playing game elements, Warcraft III was released simultaneously for Mac and PC in 2002 — the first major, full game release from Blizzard to debut simultaneously for PC and Mac.
Warcraft III pits four different races of beings — Humans, Orcs, Night Elves and the Undead — in a race to control the land of Azeroth, a war-scarred world populated by created magical and natural, filled with resources necessary to assure each race’s survival. The Frozen Throne expands the original game with a new single-player campaign, and features one new Hero per race, new units, player-built shops, neutral Heroes, and expanded multiplayer options.
Blizzard’s expanded beta test program is sure to draw more Mac users, as Blizzard pulled many Mac users into the first round of beta testing. In a message posted to Blizzard’s Web site, the company announced that they’re pleased with the results and feedback that the beta has already generated, and they’re looking to offer the chance for more players to try the game.
“Those who signed up for the Beta Test will now have another chance to participate in and play-test the Beta as we proceed into the next phase of our testing process. These additional participants can expect to receive an e-mail from us confirming their participation in the next few days,” said Blizzard.
