Easy Barcode Technologies has released two new Mac products: Easy Barcode Creator, a vector barcode generation product, and Easy Barcode Reader, a plug-and-play USB barcode scanner.

Easy Barcode Creator can be used to build ready-to-print barcode graphics in vector EPS format for use with applications such as Adobe’s Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. The entire operation is handled in a single window that has a live preview area.
Easy Barcode Creator 1.0 features barcode generation capabilities for a variety of barcode symbologies, including EAN, Bookland/ISBN, UPC, I2of5 (ITF-14), and Code 39. It also offers: a Level 2 PostScript generator and the ability to customize size factors and truncation/x-adjust settings.
Easy Barcode Creator 1.0 is compatible with Mac OS X and Mac OS 8.6-9.x. The software is $128 per license, with a special discounted six-user license available for $512. A site license option, allowing unlimited installations of the software at a particular business location, is $1024.
The Easy Barcode Reader is designed for home and office use. By default, the hardware emulates a keyboard (meaning you don’t need to install drivers), allowing barcodes to be scanned into an active application or field. The Easy Barcode Reader features support for over 15 barcode symbologies, including EAN-8, EAN-13, UPC, Bookland EAN (“ISBN barcodes”), Code 39, Code 128, I2of5 (ITF), Industrial 2 of 5, Matrix 2 of 5, Codabar, Telepen, and MSI/Plessey. It also offers: a variety of customization features; triggered or trigglerless barcode scanning modes; a Barcode Identification Mod; a special ISBN conversion mode for Bookland EAN to ISBN numeric conversions; and international keyboard support. Easy Barcode Reader also comes with the Easy Barcode Utility software for desktop reference and testing.
It works with any USB-equipped Mac running Mac OS X or Mac OS 8.1-9.x. The included Easy Barcode Reader Utility is optional. The hardware is available for $256 per unit, with a special discounted six-pack for $1280. Shipping is $8 in the United States, $16 to international locations. Pre-orders are now being accepted for the Easy Barcode Reader, which should ship in limited quantities on or before April 8.
