The Boa Slim DVD-RW measures 6 inches by 5.5 inches by .75 inches — just big enough to accommodate a disc, according to the manufacturer. The drive sports both FireWire and USB 2.0 interfaces, and can burn DVD-Rs at 2x, DVD-RWs at 1x, CD-Rs at 16x and CD-RWs at 8x. It can also read DVD-ROMs at 8x and CD-ROMs at 24x.
EZQuest president Ebrahim Zmehrir explained that his company developed the Boa Slim DVD-RW for portability. “The drive is very small and lightweight, and fits easily into a laptop case or briefcase, but it’s also very rugged,” he said.
A cable and authoring software is included, and it is compatible with Mac OS 8.6 or higher, including Mac OS X. The drive was only announced today, however — it won’t ship until the end of May, according to EZQuest.
