MacUpdate has updated its MUMenu utility, which adds a menu bar item to display the latest Mac OS X releases posted to the popular Mac software download service.

MUMenu is a freeware menu extra that enables users to periodically check for Mac OS X software updates, browse descriptions, go to MacUpdate.com to check more information and download them. The MUMenu icon also changes color when new updates are posted.
MUMenu 1.2 adds a search function that allows you to enter keywords or use the contents of your clipboard. Item descriptions are now black instead of grey. Detection of updated titles has been improved. MUMenu can now check for updates every 30 minutes to every 3 hours, as well.
The 140K download is available from MacUpdate now. System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.0 or later. Jaguar users are also required to install Unsanity’s freeware Menu Extra Enabler software — details are on the MacUpdate Web site.
