OWC announces 250GB FireWire drive, also cuts prices

Other World Computing (OWC) has added a 250GB model to its Mercury Elite Pro line of external FireWire storage solutions. The US$479.99 drive — which measures 1.5 inches by 9.0 inches by 5.5 inches and weighs under three pounds — boasts 8MB of high-performance cache and operates at 7200 rpm.

All Mercury Elite Pro drives ship with Intech HD SpeedTools, a FireWire cable, external power adaptor and a two-year warranty that covers all parts and labor. They’re compatible with Mac OS X and Mac OS 8.6-9.x. In addition to the new 250GB model, OWC announced new lower pricing for several models in the Mercury Elite Pro product line, including:

200GB 7200 rpm model with 8MB of cache: $379.99 (down from $499.99);

180GB 7200 rpm model with 8MB of cache: $339.99 (was $449.99);

120GB 7200 rpm model with 8MB of cache: $259.99 (was $295.99);

120GB 7200 rpm model with 2MB of cache: $239.99 (was $259.99);

80GB 7200R rpm model with 2MB of cache: $189.99 (was $199.99).
