One of the most sought-after games for Mac users over the past couple of years has been Sony Online Entertainment’s massively multiplayer online role playing game EverQuest. It’s coming soon, courtesy of Sony and the folks at Westlake Interactive who are managing the conversion. Now Apple’s Games site has a preview of EverQuest for Mac that might help answer your questions.

Apple’s Brad Cook talks a bit about the cultural and social phenomenon that EverQuest has become — it’s a shared online environment where you create a character and then live out a role-playing fantasy in a world populated by mythological creatures and literally thousands of other players online, just like you. “Because it is open-ended and there are no winners or losers, EverQuest allows you to chart any path you wish. Your only limit is your own imagination,” writes Cook.
Norrath — the world of EverQuest — is massive, and it’ll take you a long time to explore it all. The Mac version of EverQuest will include four expansion packs that PC players had to purchase after the game’s initial Windows release, too. As fun as the adventures are, said Cook, it’s the sense of camaraderie that many players find with each other that draws them to play EverQuest. Players form guilds to provide support for each other, and more.
Apple coverage includes screenshots, information about the races and classes of characters, system requirements and more.
