Digital Performer is a digital audio and MIDI sequencing production system that provides tools to edit, arrange, mix, process and master multitrack audio products. The software supports audio hardware including TDM, ASIO, Sound Manager and MOTU’s own line of audio interfaces, as well, supporting 24-bit/192kHz audio.
The software requires a Power Mac running Mac OS 8.5.1 or higher, but up until now, has been only supported up to Mac OS 9. The OS X-native version of Digital Performer was first announced last July, but made its world debut at NAMM 2003 this past January. Digital Performer for Mac OS X features support for Mac OS X’s CoreMIDI and CoreAudio technology, and will eventually provide support for Audio Units plug-ins with an update expected later this year.
The software also features Rewire 2.0 support, providing full MIDI and audio I/O compatibility with Propellerhead Reason and other Rewire-compatible virtual instruments. QuickScribe notation has been improved, and other changes have been made as well.
Digital Performer 4 for Mac OS X requires Jaguar. The upgrade for current Digital Performer users costs US$149. Visit the Web site for details.
