FontAgent Pro, from Insider Software, has been updated to version 1.2, adding automatic activation of fonts in documents created in Adobe Illustrator. The software could already auto-activate fonts in QuarkXpress and Adobe InDesign.
FontAgent Pro can help users eliminate corrupt fonts, partial and unmatched fonts, duplicates, unnecessary point sizes, and generate optimized and organized font libraries. You can also use FontAgent Pro to build font libraries and sets, deactivate or activate them as necessary, preview them, and keep open only the fonts you need for current projects.
Version 1.2 also improves database management, auto-activation of fonts in Mac OS X documents, printing support for Classic applications, and the ability to differentiate between Mac and Windows True Type fonts with a .ttf extension. There is also new documentation, as well as enhancements to performance and stability, according to Insider Software.
FontAgent Pro 1.2 requires Mac OS X 10.2 or later, 3MB of available disk space and 7MB of memory. It has a suggested retail price of US$99.95 for the CD version and $89.95 for electronic download — version 1.2 is free to registered users. FontAgent 8 customers can license FontAgent Pro for $49.95. A trial version of FontAgent Pro is also available for download.
