IOGEAR has released two new USB 2.0/FireWire Combo ION external hard drives. The drives are available in 2.5-inch, 20GB and 3.5-inch, 40GB versions. They cost US$199.95 and $179.95, respectively.
The hard drives work with Mac OS X and Mac OS 8.6-9.x. Apple hasn’t officially announced any plans to support USB 2.0, but the drives are backward compatible with the USB 1.1 standard (though they won’t run at USB 2.0 speeds).
Measuring 7.5 x 6.75 x 3.25 inches, the ION drives come in a metallic-colored design with an LED light that offers status information on drive use..
