Mireth Technology has updated ShredIt X to version 5.2, which adds a shred “free space” feature that allows you to shred files that have been previously deleted. It also adds a Department of Defense 5220 standard compliance option.
ShredIt X provides a way to destroy personal and confidential information. It can be used to shred a file, a folder or the free space on a disk. ShredIt X overwrites the file contents, file name, creator and type. The changes are permanent so Mireth Technology recommends that you use it with caution.
Shredit X costs US$19.95; volume licensing is also available. Version 5.2 is a free upgrade for registered users. Shredit X requires Mac OS X.
