Marathon Computer has announced the M-Rack, a new equipment rack cabinet built to accommodate devices as deep as Xserve, Apple’s rackmount server.
Designed with the Xserve in mind, the US$1,099 M-Rack, due next month, accommodates equipment 30 inches deep and stands 40U tall. It comes with heavyweight anti-tip plates for all four sides; the plates are pre-drilled for lag bolts in case you need earthquake tolerance. The frames, top cap, and bottom cap are symmetrical.
The M-Rack has an extruded aluminum construction with a tough polyurethane enamel satin finish. It has heavy duty, low-profile rubber casters for a low center of gravity and an optional link plate capability for attaching two or more units together. It ships flat, but the M-Rack can be assembled with nothing but a 5mm Allen wrench, which is included.
