Kokorozashi has released iMage 1.0, an image translation utility for the Mac. iMage is billed as no-hassle, no-fuss image conversion.
iMage imports JPEG, GIF, PNG, TIFF, Photoshop, PICT, BMP, MacPaint and other formats, and can export to JPEG, PNG, TIFF, Photoshop, PICT, BMP, MacPaint and other formats. Mac OS X users can also import PDF files and import and export JPEG 2000. It can’t yet export GIF or PDF images, however.
Kokorozashi President Peter Gontier explained that the secret to what makes iMage different from other image conversion utilities is its simplicity. “You open the image document, choose a new format, close the document, and you’re done. No messing with filename extensions, no making the same decisions over and over again, and no waiting to load dozens of software features you don’t need,” he said.
iMage requires Mac OS 8.6 or later, and runs natively in Mac OS X. iMage is free, and source code is also available.
