Apple today posted an update to its QuickTime software to bring the current version to 6.1.1. The 19.4MB update is available for download through the Software Update system preference pane, and it’s also available as a separate download through the QuickTime Web site.
QuickTime is Apple’s digital media technology, available for both Macs and Windows PCs. The software provides users with the ability to play back content in dozens of different multimedia audio and video formats, and when used with an optional QuickTime Pro license, create such content as well.
“QuickTime 6.1.1 delivers important bug fixes to MPEG-4 streaming,” said Apple.
Version 6.1.1 appears to be a Mac OS X-specific upgrade for the moment. 6.0.2 is the most recent version available for Mac OS 9 and earlier, while 6.1 is the current version for some localized versions of Windows.
