Chaotic Software has released Rendezvous Beacon 1.0, a freeware product for Mac OS X.
Rendezvous is a zero configuration technology that brings together Internet IP standards and LAN networks. Using Rendezvous, devices such as printers can be seen on a network with no setup from the end user. Apple first announced the technology at the July 2002 Macworld Conference & Expo in New York.
Rendezvous Beacon enables you to set up a Rendezvous-savvy Mac as a “beacon” or proxy for services on other computers or devices. For example, you could use Rendezvous Beacon to publish a Web service for a non-Rendezvous-savvy Web server.
Rendezvous Beacon is available immediately. It requires Mac OS X 10.2 (“Jaguar”) or later.
