BUSlink makes and sells storage products, multimedia products, networking supplies, memory, hubs, modems and more. In particular, the company sells external hard drives in USB and FireWire flavors, for both PC and Mac. USB Dantz indicates that BUSlink is now bundling Retrospect Express Backup both for various flavors of Windows and for Mac OS 9.
BUSlink director of sales Ed O’Brien said that his company was inspired to bundle Retrospect Express since its USB and FireWire drives are often used as backup devices for primary storage on Macs and PCs.
“Drag and drop just isn’t a reliable method of backup anymore,” said O’Brien.
BUSlink sells portable and desktop USB hard drives in capacities from 3.2GB to 27GB, and offers external FireWire drives in capacities from 20 to 60GB.
Retrospect Express Backup software differs from Dantz’s full Retrospect package by using mountable media (hard drives, removable storage like Zips, Jaz, etc) rather than tape drives. Although the choice of media is restricted, the software incorporates a full feature set — automated and attended backup options, incremental backups with compression, bit verification and other features.
