Products tweaked for Mac OS X are coming fast and furious. The latest is PineHill Products’ FinalWord 2.0, a text editor that has the ability to read Windows/DOS files.
Besides OS X compatibility, the update adds crash protection, the ability to remove forwarded quotes, a Text Info window, Font Setup and Preview features, and the ability to send a file as e-mail. An overhauled spell checker is faster, according to the folks at PineHills. The “Open Recent” list now shows the last five documents you opened. And you can now replace Windows/DOS Line Breaks with Macintosh line breaks.
To use FinalWord 2.0, you’ll need a Power Mac running Mac OS 8.0 or higher with 4MB of free RAM and 4MB of available hard disk space. You can download the Mac OS 8.0-9.x version (a 550 kb file) and Mac OS X version (a 750 kb file) at the PineHill download site. The cost is US$15 for both versions.
