If you’re using Casady and Greene’s Sound Jam with Mac OS X, you better stop. Even though a Carbonized version of the MP3 player, encoder, and organizer of digital music was announced last fall, C&G has found some problems.
“It has come to our attention that Sound Jam MP from Casady & Greene does not work with the released version of Mac OS X,” said company spokesperson Bonnie Mitchell. “It appears to impede the speed of the new Mac OS X.”
If you need musical jukebox software with Mac OS X, use the Carbonized version of iTunes. iTunes 1.1 for Mac OS X is similar to its Mac OS 9 counterpart. However, unlike the Mac OS 9 version of iTunes, iTunes for Mac OS X lacks the ability (for now) to burn CDs. It also lacks the OS 9 version’s ability to display full-screen visual effects. Apple indicates that a patch is coming to address these issues. You can download iTunes for Mac OS X at Apple’s OS X download site.
