Vicomsoft has released a new version of its FTP Client software for the Mac. The new version, 3.1.4, is ready for download from Vicomsoft’s Web site.
Vicomsoft FTP Client enables your Mac to download and upload files from Internet servers that utilize File Transfer Protocol, or FTP. It’s made by the same company behind SoftRouter and Internet Gateway, and is lauded by users for its performance and features.
Vicomsoft FTP Client incorporates the following changes:
FTP Droplets — users can upload items to a predefined destination directory by dropping them onto Finder-based droplet applications.
Enhanced ‘Edit in BBEdit’ — BBEdit’s ODBEditor is used for faster on-server edits; new options to determine when changed files get uploaded; new option to create an empty server-based file and edit it immediately.
13 other new or enhanced features.
Two separate versions of FTP Client are available — Shareware and Pro. Shareware doesn’t support features like FTP Droplets and Edit in BBEdit, but it’s free. Pro costs US$30. More details can be found by visiting the FTP Client Web page. A free updater is available for users of Vicomsoft FTP Client 3.01 or later — visit the Web site for more details.
In related news, Vicomsoft has announced that a Mac OS X-native version of FTP Client is coming this summer.
