If you’re worried about protecting your Mac equipped with OS X from viruses, it’s worth noting that McAfee has just released a beta version of Virex 7.0 for Mac OS X.
McAfee notes that this first beta version is in very raw form. In fact, it’s a command-line based scanner — but it’ll give you some measure of protection until the company releases “a more familiar Virex application.”
McAfee also strongly warns against using the Virex beta with any beta version of Mac OS X, including the Public Beta. McAfee cites “new functionality” in the release version of Mac OS X that was not available in previous versions.
