As we reported on March 19, some Titanium PowerBooks shipped with a battery contact problem that would cause them to suddenly shut off if tilted or held at an angle. Though there was a workaround for the problem, sources tell us that Apple now has a replacement battery that’s supposed to solve the problem.
We don’t have part number for the replacement battery yet. However, its pending availability is welcome news. This means that TiPB users who have experienced the battery contact problem won’t have to ship the whole laptop to get the matter corrected.
One source tells us that Apple will be shipping the replacement battery later this week. We’ll let you know as we receive more details.
