Extensis Products Group has integrated file transfer protocol (FTP) file delivery into
Preflight Online, the company’s preflighting service. The new features are available to all Preflight Online subscribers.
Preflight Online has been developed to simplify the process of inspecting and correcting job files before they arrive for printing, thus reducing the time and expense involved in making sure that a job is ready to go. The software has been developed for service bureaus, printers, newspapers and publishers on a subscription basis.
Using the new integrated FTP services, Preflight Online users can now preflight, collect, compress and deliver all the files they need for a print job, sending them directly to the printer, service bureau or publisher via a Web browser. Users can either collect their job files locally or upload them directly to the destination FTP server after Preflight Online checks the job for potential errors.
Extensis Senior Product Manager Joseph Schorr explained that the new feature has been added to help remove obstacles to setting up and using FTP software, which can sometimes be a daunting challenge for users — now, they just click on the “Send” button.
“Preflight Online is the only purely web-based solution that for one subscription price includes file inspection, an integrated help system, built-in collection and file compression, and seamless file delivery,” said Schorr.
