Conkey Software has released TreeManager 1.1a1, an alpha version of Canvas-based custom control that allows interactively viewing and manipulating of hierarchical information. Programmed completely in the REALbasic development environment, TreeManager is fully object-oriented and customizable, according to Jason Conkey.
He said that TreeManager 1.1a1 offers: A hierarchical list view and data structure Drag and drop of list items Drag-resizable headers and a horizontal scrollbar The ability for list items to contain whatever graphics desired Iterator functions to easily navigate data structure The ability to list items to get MouseDown, MouseDrag, MouseUp, and MultiClick events, and more Debugging and error handling functions Pre-written “viewsets” that allow easy setup of list appearance and behaviors An included viewset that emulates the Finder appearance The ability for third parties to write and distribute viewsets.
Conkey said that the alpha version is “very stable,” but whenever you’re using alpha and beta software, always proceed with caution. TreeManager requires REALbasic 2.1.2 or later, Mac OS 7.6.1 or later, and a Power Mac (though 68k Mac and Windows versions are in the works). Appearance Manager is currently required to use headers. The cost is US$50 for a single-computer license. For more info go to the
