PowerLogix has announced the public beta release of Cache Control X. The new software is the OS X version of PowerLogix’s G3/G4 Cache Profiler, and works with all PowerLogix upgrade cards, according to the company.
With Cache Control X, users can adjust L2 cache settings on PowerLogix’s upgrade cards. Users can also set speculative addressing and dynamic power management. Settings are then automatic during boot time. A command line driven interface is also included to enable users to change L2 cache settings.
PowerLogix marketing director Robin Howdershelt calls Cache Control X the first fully functional L2 cache utility for OS X. “Unlike other software that allows only a specific cache ratio under OS X, Cache Control X offers all the typical options for backside cache ratio and works for both 512K and 1MB backside cache sizes,” said Howdershelt.
Cache Control X is ready for download from PowerLogix’s Web site. Remember, it’s public beta software, so set your expectations accordingly.
