If you have a need to capture computer images to video and you need a professional solution that can be installed inside a desktop Mac, you may want to turn to Focus Enhancements Inc. The company has announced the Pro AV 1600 PCI card. It’s a PC-to-TV scan converter on a PCI expansion card, compatible with both Mac and Windows-based computers. The new card joins similar products already available in desktop and rack-mount variations.
The card makes it possible to convert a PC desktop UXGA signal (up to 1600×1200 pixel resolution) to a component, S-Video or Composite video signal. The Pro AV 1600 sports selectable, 2-dimension flicker filter settings, controls for contrast, brightness, color saturation, horizontal and vertical sizing, and zoom and video genlock features. Focus indicates the card is suitable for video monitoring, recording or broadcast.
The Pro AV 1600 PCI itself is a short-form PCI card with a 15-pin VGA connector, reference video or back burst genlock input on a BNC connector, component, composite, and S-Video output. Some functions require a second card bracket, which is included with the package.
The Pro AV 1600 PCI card is expected to ship in May 2001 and carries as suggested retail price of US$1995. More details about the card are available from Focus Enhancements’ Web site.
