Users of Mac OS X and Epson printers may be interested to know that the Epson printer driver update, originally available as part of Apple’s Mac OS X update, is available for download from Apple’s Web site.
The printer driver update is listed on a Tech Info Library document posted to Apple’s Web site as version 1.0, but the Software Update system preference in Mac OS X itself defines the update as version 1.1 instead.
According to both sources, the new Epson printer driver update now enables printing for the Japanese language.
In related documentation, Apple advises that users who have not yet applied the Mac OS X 10.0.1 update should do so prior to installing these new drivers. The Software Update system preference software should also be updated to version 1.3.1 — if you’ve applied previous updates using Software Update, this has probably already happened.
Apple’s Web site contains links to downloads localized in North American English, International English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Japanese. Please visit the Apple Tech Info Library for more details.
