NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display of America Inc. has announced dramatic price cuts on several of its flat-panel LCD displays. Two 18-inch models have been dropped US$750, and one 15-inch display has dropped $200.
The company indicates that their LCD1830 and LCD1800 models, both 18-inch flat panel displays, have been dropped to $1,149, a reduction of $750. Both monitors are analog TFT active matrix LCDs, featuring native resolutions of 1280×1024 pixels (SXGA) and sporting 15-pin VGA-style D-SUB connectors.
The LCD1530V model is now available for an estimated street price of $549, $200 less than the unit was listed for. The 15-inch LCD1530V is another analog active matrix TFT LCD display with a native resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. It also features a VGA-style 15-pin D-SUB connector.
NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display VP Al Giazzon said that his company is responding to corporate demand for flat-panel displays. Flat panel displays are more power-efficient and operate cooler than conventional CRTs, resulting in up to a 34 percent power consumption savings, according to NEC-Mitsubishi’s own numbers.
“NEC-Mitsubishi is committed to helping users at all levels take advantage of the many benefits and overall costs savings that flat-panel displays deliver without the hefty price tag,” said Giazzon.
