The US$399 case has a brushed aluminum shell, two-inches of closed cell styrofoam, and a combination lock. It weights under 11.5 pounds — and that’s with the Titanium PowerBook inside — and measures 42cm x 34cm x 11cm. Cut-outs cover the power supply, power cable and accessories to protect the TiBook from accidental scratches.
“The TiCase has created an amazing response,” said Eric Prentice, CEO of Dr. Bott. “The day it was announced our Web site was the busiest it has ever been and the response from our reseller base has been incredible.”
A detachable cover lets you use the TiBook while it’s in the case using a special “Lift-o-Matic” rear pads. Lift off the lid, press gently on the rear corners of the PowerBook, and your laptop lifts into working position. The “Lift-o-Matic” telescopic feet raise the rear of the TiBook so that the natural decline of your knees is properly balanced and the TiBook comes to a level rest in desk height. As a side effect Lift-o-Matic makes room for ample air circulation under the TiBook, according to of Dr. Bott. Plus, you can flip down the portable’s lid covering the ports and all are directly accessible, even while the Titanium PowerBook is in the TiCase.
Plus, the shipping version of the TiCase includes some last minute revisions, including an advanced hinge system, and more peripheral storage including space for the power supply, a spare battery, extra cables, a full size mouse or small USB or Ethernet hub.
By the way, happy birthday to Dr. Bott, which is celebrating its second anniversary. The company is the single US Macintosh based distribution source for many of the products they carry including the MoniSwitch, Kick-Off!, eMerge, gHEAD, iBookBag, CD Revo and their recently announced TiCase.
“We’ve had an incredible second year with all indications thus far pointing toward an even more successful year three,” said Prentice. “This past year our sales, reseller base and facility have all tripled in size. We picked up 200 new products and doubled our workforce. It has been exhilarating to see both resellers and manufacturers get excited about our uniquely Macintosh method of distribution.”
