announced today at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) trade show in Las Vegas that it has “dramatically expanded” its OEM (original equipment manufacturer) software offerings and its sales and OEM support organization to keep up with the growing demand for DVD-enabling software publishing solutions and technology.
Sonic is now offering the Sonic MyDVD, DVDit!, and DVD Fusion applications to OEMs for bundle with DVD-recorders, CD-recorders, video editing solutions and video capture cards. Plus, the company is offering its AuthorScript DVD publishing API (application programming interface) as part of the Open Authoring Initiative so that OEMs can incorporate DVD authoring and recording technology directly into their Mac and PC applications, according to Mark Ely, vice president of business development at Sonic. AuthorScript is a collection of software libraries that can be integrated into any C++ application.
All of Sonic’s OEM products and technology are built on Sonic’s cross-platform DVD authoring engine, AuthorScript. Each Sonic application is customizable, and the Sonic AuthorScript technology can be incorporated into any application for DVD, Video CD or Super Video CD publishing. The company’s Mac products are DVD Creator and SonicStudio. The former is an automated system for DVD production. It’s built on the company’s SD-2000 MPEG video encoder. The latter is an audio editing and CD premastering system. It supports CD, DVD-Audio, audio for DVD-Video, and EMD mastering.
