Now that Apple has released Quicktime 5.0.1 (see separate story), the folks at Zentropy Partners, who create “digital solutions for the real world,” are showcasing “Media Skins” developed using QuickTime 5 at this week’s National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) conference in Las Vegas.
QuickTime 5’s Media Skins give multimedia authors and developers the ability to control the shape and size of all the player elements, including the window of the media player where the content is displayed. Zentropy Partners is using QuickTime to add a layer of programmable interactivity to explore new opportunities for branding, information delivery, e-commerce and content presentation for their clients, as well as prototyping interactive television and broadcast experiences of the future, according to Lori Schwartz, Emerging Technologies Producer, Zentropy Partners.
She said that, for Zentropy Partners, this is an “incredibly powerful tool.” Zentropy Partners is currently discussing campaigns with their clients, Reebok and EMAP, using QuickTime media skins as an innovative marketing vehicle.
“QuickTime has shown a consistent innovative spirit towards emerging technologies and we’re passionate about exploring all of these opportunities for our clients,” Schwartz said in a press announcement.
