Third Stream Media Inc. (TSM) today announced development partnerships with Brown Innovations and Pearlson Development to use their kiosk and sound technologies in TSM’s interactive Touch Stand kiosks. The branded kiosks feature touchscreen-equipped iMac systems, as well.
TSM’s Touch Screen kiosks are being marketed to brick-and-mortar retailers including music, video and bookstores. TSM says the Touch Screen kiosks will be used as an e-commerce solution, enabling consumers to shop in-store the same way they would online.
Pearlson Development Corp. brings to the table its Treeosk line of interactive multimedia kiosks, designed specifically for the iMac. Each kiosk system sports a customized interface branded to the retailer, and able to include the retailer’s own in-store inventory.
Brown Innovations provides the Localizer sound dome, which will be incorporated into the Touch Stand kiosks to provide audio isolation and stereo sound for the kiosk user.
TSM explained that each Touch Stand kiosks will feature broadband Internet connections, with the ability to stream more than 1.5 million music samples. The software that drives the Touch Stand systems are based on Macromedia’s Flash technology.
TSM said that Touch Stand kiosks will debut in 50 retail outlets this June. The company hopes to have about 3,500 in place by late 2002.
