“With Apple’s release of the Titanium G4 PowerBook Series, the only thing that we felt that it lacked was a handle,” Peter Lock of Cyber3 told MacCentral. “On receiving our own TiBooks, we noticed that the warmer the weather got, the more likelihood of perspiration made the TiBook a little slippery. We also noticed that it ran very warm during operation. We decided that we needed an easy way (without satchel or carry cases) to transport our TiBooks so we designed the TiBook Tote & Tilt.”
The device also tilts the TiBook at an angle that makes it easier to see the screen and to type, he added. Tilting it also allows for the bottom back of the TiBook to be raised, thus allowing better cooling of the TiBook, Lock said.
“We have noticed that the battery life and the overall operation is better due to it being raised and tilted, the fan activates around 50 percent less than normal, resulting in longer battery life and a cooler operating TiBook,” he added.
The TiBook Tote & Tilt takes about three minutes to install and doesn’t void any warranty. The door covering all the connector points in the rear of the TiBook are totally accessible, flat or tilted when the Tote & Tilt is installed and used.
And if you’re worried about adding too much bulk to the svelte TiBook, relax. Lock said that the weight of the TiBook isn’t greatly impacted by adding the Tote & Tilt. It still weighs less than 5.4 pounds, he adds.
The product, which goes on sale today, costs US$39.95. It’s only available only from the Cyber3 online store.
