Although Apple is still mum about its plans — or lack thereof — for a nationwide chain of retail stores, it looks like Phoenix, Arizona residents may get one of the elusive storefronts. Anne Robertson of The Business Journal reports that Apple is one of several new tenants coming to an upscale Phoenix shopping center in a recent article entitled “Biltmore lands three new tenants, including Apple.”
Robertson reports that Apple is leasing a location in the Biltmore Fashion Park, located at Camelback and 24th St. in Phoenix — a fact seemingly confirmed by the mall’s general manager, Gary Doyle. The location may provide some indication of the clientele that Apple will be trying to attract: The mall bills itself as “Arizona’s premier upscale shopping center,” featuring boutique stores like Gucci and Cartier, among many others.
According to Robertson, the Apple store will open “early next year” in a 5,397 square foot space at the Biltmore Fashion Park. Biltmore GM Doyle wouldn’t say where Apple’s store will be, exactly, because apparently the current tenant hasn’t been notified that their lease won’t be renewed.
Other new tenants include an upscale sushi buffet, a high-end jeweler, and a Häagen-Dazs ice cream parlor franchise. More details are available from The Business Journal.
