News of possible locations for Apple’s retail stores have been popping up in cities around the United States lately. The latest news has Apple opening a second store in the Chicago area.
Crain’s Chicago Business has a small piece in the “etc.” section that says Apple will be opening a store in Schaumburg, IL. (Thanks to MacCentral reader Payton Chung).
“Apple Computer Inc. is planning to open its second Chicago-area retail outlet, in a 7,100-square-foot store at Woodfield Shopping Center in Schaumburg.”
Last month we told you of Apple’s first location in the Chicago area located at 679 N. Michigan Ave. — a former Gap Store. Building owner, Nicholas Karris, said that Apple planned on an extensive renovation of the 33,000-square-foot space.
Just last week we reported that an Apple store might be planned for Phoenix. Apple is apparently leasing a location in the Biltmore Fashion Park, located at Camelback and 24th St. in Phoenix — a fact seemingly confirmed by the mall’s general manager, Gary Doyle. The location may provide some indication of the clientele that Apple will be trying to attract. The mall bills itself as “Arizona’s premier upscale shopping center,” featuring boutique stores like Gucci and Cartier, among many others.
