Yesterday MacCentral brought you info about Handspring Inc.’s price reduction on the Visor Deluxe — the company is now selling the popular Palm OS-based PDA for US$199, a $50 price drop, and they’re throwing in a free leather case. There’s other news, too — Visor is also providing rebates for Visor Platinums and Springboard modules.
Handspring is offering a $50 rebate on the purchase of any new Visor Platinum handheld between now and June 17. The Visor Platinum is one of Handspring’s “high speed” models — it sports the DragonBall VZ 33MHz microprocessor, which operates 50 percent faster than the CPU that powers the Visor Deluxe. The Visor Platinum comes in two colors — silver and graphite.
Like the Visor Deluxe, the Platinum comes equipped with a Springboard interface. The Springboard enables Visor users to plug in new modules that provide added capabilities. Existing modules include MP3 players, digital cameras, modems, and even cellular phones. The Platinum ships with 8MB of RAM, a USB-based interface (with Mac drivers and software included), a protective screen cover and a leather slipcase.
The Visor Platinum sells for $299, so your adjusted price after the rebate drops to $249.
If you’re hankering to buy some Springboard modules, you’re in luck — Handspring is also offering a $30 rebate on select Springboard modules, when they’re purchased with a Visor. Presentation interfaces, digital cameras, modems, and GPS tracking systems for the Visor are all included in the promotion.
