PowerTicker has changed hands. Galleon Software reports that it has purchased the Macintosh stock browser software back from Aladdin Systems. Aladdin has owned the software for a while now, even though Galleon has remained the software’s principal developer — but with the 2.1 release of PowerTicker, the software is once again a Galleon product.
PowerTicker is a program that queries financial Web sites, reformatting the information it receives into an animated stock ticker and a collection of reports. You can configure PowerTicker to report on stock quotes in your portfolio, calculate your current investment value, and even convert international currencies at current exchange rates.
PowerTicker 2.1 is a free upgrade to all owners of Aladdin’s PowerTicker, and the software will recognize Aladdin serial numbers, as well. Galleon Software reports that PowerTicker 2.1 fixes a number of bugs present in 2.0.1, but the feature set is the same.
Looking down the road, Galleon Software plans to release a Carbonized version of PowerTicker this summer.
Galleon’s other products include eMerge and Data Dredger. More info can be found at Galleon Software’s Web site.
