FontAgent, the Mac font management and repair utility from Insider Software has been updated to version 8.2. The new version enhances font validation for both bitmapped and PostScript fonts, fixes bugs that strengthen its font reorganization power, improves its compatibility with Mac OS 9.x, and delivers compiler-based performance improvements in several areas, according to Rio Sabadicci, president of Insider Software.
FontAgent 8.1, released in January, added compatibility with Adobe InDesign, which requires that certain Adobe fonts be stored in specific locations in order to launch correctly. In addition to checking the integrity of Adobe Sans MM and Adobe Serif MM fonts, FontAgent ensures that they are stored in both the standard System:Fonts folder and the Application Support:Adobe folder.
Insider FontAgent 8.2 is available for immediate download from Insider’s Web site. The update is free for existing users; version 8.2 is US$69.95 for new users.
