International game publisher Infogrames and Sony Picture Consumer Products have announced a license agreement that will bring video games based on the popular movie Men in Black to various platforms. Infogrames notes that the Mac is one of the platforms they’ve licensed.
The first game to debut will be a PlayStation console game, which will be unveiled tomorrow at E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo taking place this week in Los Angeles, CA. The game is due for release this fall. Infogrames’ license spans multiple games and cross various platforms, ranging from PlayStation and PlayStation 2 to Xbox, PC, and arcade games.
Now, it’s important to note that this does not constitute a product announcement from Infogrames’ Mac arm, Mac game publisher MacSoft. If and when a Mac version of Men in Black games is announced, we’ll be sure to bring you the news. Regardless, it’s a step in the right direction to see MacSoft’s corporate parent making sure that they can make a Mac version if it makes sense to do so.
Infogrames senior Vice President Robert Miles says that Men In Black is an important step for his company to take as it strives to be a top digital interactive entertainment company.
“The property offers a rich universe, full of interesting characters and situations that will become the basis for several quality titles,” said Miles.
Men In Black was a feature film starring Wil Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. The movie was a raucous action comedy that concerned a covert agency tasked with helping to control alien life on Earth. It’s since spawned an animated television series, merchandising spin-offs, and a sequel that’s currently in development.
