announcing its line of Apple-branded retail stores last week, Apple confirmed that 25 stores would open this year.
McLean, VA and
Glendale, CA) opened Saturday and others are planned for the giant Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota; on Prince Street in Manhattan’s SOHO district; Los Angeles, California (four stores); Palo Alto, California; Chicago, Illinois (multiple locations); Littleton, Colorado; and Hartford, Connecticut.
If you’re wondering where others may be located, a search of the job opportunities on the
Apple Web site
turns up some intriguing results. Search for openings for “Apple Genius,” “Store Manager,” and “Apple Sales Associates” and you’ll find such positions available in such locations as Albany, New York; Columbus, Ohio; Germantown, Tennessee (a suburb of Memphis); Newport Beach, California; Plano, Texas; West Hartford, Connecticut; Buffalo, New York; and Tampa, Florida.
By the way, a Mac Genius is a person trained to be up to speed on Apple technology. Each store will have more than one “genius,” who will be on hand to answer questions and help Mac users. They can be found at the Genius Bar in the back quarter of the stores. If they don’t know the answer to a tough question, the Mac Geniuses can pick up the Apple “hotline” for immediate help from Apple headquarters.
