WWDC. NECC. Macworld New York. There’ll be lots of U.S. expos and conferences over the next three months in which Apple will have a major presence. But there are also several big events outside the United States.
Europe-based Apple fans are gearing-up for two key events — the Apple-sanctioned Apple Expo in Paris, and the homegrown MacExpo in London,
according to Macworld UK.
“Though shrouded in secrecy, details are emerging regarding Apple Expo 2001,” Macworld UK says. “This will take place between September 26-30 at the Porte de Versailles in Paris. It’s Apple’s only official event in Europe and promises a gathering of 250 manufacturers and product-development firms.”
Apple’s booth will occupy approximately one-ninth of the 18,000 square-meter show. There’ll be special interest areas targeted to consumers, creative professionals, education, healthcare, and small and medium-sized businesses. And expect a beefy conference agenda.
Macworld UK says to expect the 2001 Apple Expo to be more multilingual, in response to critics who said the show relied too heavily on the French language. For more details or to pre-register go to the
official Expo site.
Then there’s MacExpo 2001, which will be held at the Business Design Centre in London, from November 22-24.
Reports hint that the event will attract more support from Apple than last year, when the company did not want to divert attention away from its own Expo in Paris, according to Macworld UK. Already booked for the expo are Macworld, AM Micro, Extensis, Hermstedt, Hewlett-Packard, Iomega, LaCie, Macromedia, Microsoft, Proxim, Quark and Wacom. The 2000 show attracted 10,452 visitors. For details go to the
expo Web site.
Moving on to Latin America, this year, Apple Brazil did road shows called Apple Solutions 2001 in five capital cities — São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Curitiba and Recife — Rogério Taira of MacNews Brasil told MacCentral.
“Although the company has not released official information about AppleWorld [largest fair in Latin America focused exclusively on the Mac platform] for this year, in September there will be Apple Solutions 2001Second Edition, adding three new capitals: Brasilia, Fortaleza and Porto Alegre,” he said.
