Yesterday Apple introduced an all-new, “industrial-strength” Mac OS X Server operating system along with new Macintosh Server G4 hardware configurations. The company has also released some documentation users of these products should check out.
The Mac OS X Server Admin Guide is an Adobe Acrobat PDF document that offers instructions on installing and setting up Mac OS X Server v10.0 for the first time, strategies for configuring a work and server, and the different server administration applications. The guide, a 9275 k file, can be downloaded from Apple’s update site.
There’s also a 790k “Migration Guide,” in PDF form. It gives info about upgrading from AppleShare IP 6.3, At Ease, Macintosh Manager, and Mac OS X Server 1.2 to Mac OS X Server v10.0. The guide walks you through migrating user and group information, mail data, access privileges, and more. It, too, can be found at the Apple update site.
