Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced yesterday during his keynote address at the Worldwide Developers Conference that Apple is now shipping all Macs both with Mac OS X and Mac OS 9.1 pre-installed. If you’ve bought a new Mac through an authorized reseller since May 21, you’re also eligible to get a copy of Mac OS X free.
Call the Mac OS X Up-To-Date Program, this effort enables anyone who buys a new Mac without Mac OS X already installed on it to receive a copy of Mac OS X at no charge. The program runs now through August 21.
All users have to do to qualify is complete a downloadable order form available in PDF format, and submit a copy of the itemized sales receipt and a software proof-of-purchase for Mac OS 9.1.
