Former Apple CEO Gil Amelio may well be best known to Mac users as the man who brought Steve Jobs back to Apple. Amelio purchased NeXT from Jobs, but was ousted as CEO a short time later. Jobs then took on the title of Interim CEO, later dropping the “Interim,” officially taking over the helm as CEO.
In a recent interview with Business Week posted online today, Amelio was asked what his thoughts on Apple were these days. Amelio responded by saying the plan put in place while he was at Apple, remains the guiding strategy for the company.
“It has been three and a half years since I left, and I’m not on day-to-day touch with the company. But I can say that the strategy that we put in place during my term there seems to still be the guiding strategy for the company. I would have to say I’m proud that they’ve followed through. To the extent that they continue to stay focused on that plan, they will continue to do just fine.”
