Hewlett-Packard has released Mac OS X-compatible drivers for some of its Photosmart series printers.
HP indicates that the printer driver is designed to enable Photosmart 1000, p1000, p1100, and 1200 series printers to communicate with a USB-equipped Mac running Mac OS X. HP notes that this driver package is an “interim software release” which provides print-only functionality.
The Photosmart line of printers have been especially configured to provide digital camera owners with a way of printing their photos without needing to rely on a computer. The printers feature built-in CompactFlash and SmartMedia card interfaces.
HP says that these drivers are a replacement for the basic printing support included with Mac OS X. The drivers have been released with support for American English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish.
